2025 12 10

We are sharing the moments from yesterday‘s EMN Lithuania National Conference “Towards a Coherent Labour Migration: Aligning Labour Migration Policy and Integration Measures“.

The conference was opened by Vice-Minister of the Interior Alicija Ščerbaitė, who highlighted the need to strengthen coherent migration management that reflects the realities of the labor market. Aurelija Makauskienė, Head of IOM Vilnius, delivered the welcoming remarks, emphasizing the importance of cooperation at both the national and international levels. Dr. L. Nedelkoska delivered the keynote speech, emphasizing the importance of data-driven decision-making in migrant employment practices.

In the first session, participants from Lithuania, the Netherlands, Ireland, and Poland discussed how different countries shape their labour migration systems and apply new solutions in the areas of permit issuance, labour market tests, and migration management.

During the second session, speakers from Lithuania, the Czech Republic, and Finland shared national practices aimed at supporting the integration of labour migrants – from language learning and qualification recognition to employer engagement and targeted support programmes.

In the third part, representatives of the public and private sectors discussed how institutions, employers, and NGOs can operate within a unified system to coherently align labour migration and integration.

The conference was concluded by Head of Unit at EMN Vytautas Ežerskis, who emphasized the need to consistently coordinate labor migration and integration policies.

Thank you to all the speakers and participants for sharing their experiences and insights that contribute to more sustainable labour migration and integration policies. We are also thankful to A. Avižiūtė for the smooth moderation of the conference.
